Match Report (Courtesy of Leyton Orient Website)

A young Orient XI were beaten 5-0 by Ryman Premier side AFC Hornchurch at Bridge Avenue on Tuesday evening. The Urchins had too much experience for the O's - for whom Callum Hart was their most senior player at 21 - and their know-how told. They showed their attacking intent from the off and Kris Lee dragged an early shot wide following a strong run and cross from the impressive Simon Parker.

Ralph Sylvester, back from an ankle injury, forced a good low save from Dale Brightly with nine minutes gone, but Hornchurch took the lead 15 minutes later when Parker held off the challenge of Frankie Webb before lofting over O's keeper Michael Doyle.

With 28 minutes on the clock Doyle saved a one-on-one from Parker, but he was powerless to prevent Kris Lee from making it 2-0 following a flowing counter attack three minutes later.

Jack Page drew another save from Dale Brightly with a fierce free kick on 41 minutes but there was no doubt that Hornchurch deserved their interval lead.

Orients youngsters continued to struggle to take the game by the scruff of the neck after the break and sub Harry Elmes added a neat third halfway through the half. Tom Kemp, playing an unfamiliar central midfield role, came close at the other end, but Hornchurch rounded off the scoring with two late goals.

Firstly, Michael Brothers beat sub keeper Nicky Mills-Taylor from range, and then Harry Elmes tucked away his second of the game with an angled drive across the O's stopper.
