On the emotional night of the new dawn a record crowd for a Capital League match turned out, many choosing to watch from the comfort of the social club. A youthful Urchins team kicked towards the windmill end of the ground, and surprised the experienced visitors with a fine display of attacking football, urged on by a packed EastSide. The first half saw Hornchurch take the game to the visitors and Jack Buckfield was kept busy, in the Billericay goal. Few chances were created as defences were largely on top. Home keeper Jean Paul Betancourt dealt comfortably with a series of difficult centres, and in the second half made several good saves, before Hornchurch began to control the midfield and press forward.Toby Amokeoko was put clear through the middle, and was pulled down inside the area, the referee ignoring the loud appeals and allowing play to continue. Remi Sutton took a good pass from midfield and created an opening when he cut in from the left, and fired his shot narrowly wide of the post. The only goal of the game came when TOBI AMOKEOKO outpaced the defence to run through and hammer the ball hard into the net, to the loudest roar of approval ever heard at a Capital League match. In stoppage time Remi Sutton won a corner on the left, Joe Pattison put the ball over, and Josh Steele found Liam Valentine, whose header landed on the roof of the net..
