HORNCHURCH 1 NORTHWOOD 0
This match was only arranged late on Friday, but despite the lack of advertising there was still a crowd of 150. Northwood looked confident and went have opened the scoring when their left back moved forward, only to hit his shot wide. Urchins played towards the windmill end, and Gary Bowes sent over a dangerous cross from the right wing which curved and landed on the roof of the net. Northwood looked dangerous when they came forward, their outside right going close with a shot which skimmed the near post. The closest Urchins came in the first half was when a Mark Janney free kick was headed powerfully against the crossbar by John Purdie, and shortly afterwards Gary Bowes weaved his way past two defenders but his centre was headed away with Ross Wall and Soz Yao both closing in.

Colin McBride used the second half to introduce a number of substitutes, and Urchins slowly began to exert more pressure, with Elliot Styles going close with a header. Steve Butterworth came on and also narrowly missed with a header, and although Northwood forced a number of corners Darren Behcet was rarely troubled and they did not manage a shot on target. Urchins appeared to have won a penalty when Steve Butterworth was brought down as he homed in from the left, seemingly well inside the penalty area, but a free kick was awarded instead. Dave Collis came over to chip the ball into the goalmouth, it was played out by a defender, and both Jon Green and Elliot Styles went for the loose ball, but it was ROSS WALL who got there first to power his shot home for the only goal of the match. Less than a minute later a loud appeal for hand ball was rejected when a penalty seemed to be the only possible decision. Northwood rallied in the final few minutes, but although they won two more corners, they still could not get a shot on goal.
