This win kept us at the top of the division and although it was not a particularly memorable game it was a fairly comfortable victory.

We made what seems to be a customary start for us, attacking hard and going into an early lead.  Wayne Purser and Jamie Stuart went close early on before Lee Elam was brought down in the area after 17 minutes and Darren Caskey converted from the spot for his 3rd goal in as many games.  A 21st minute Kirk Jackson header from a Caskey corner was kicked off the line by a Eastbourne's Matt Piper, but we were further in front 3 minutes later when Lee Matthews threaded a ball through for Wayne Purser after the visitors lost the ball on the half-way line and the ball was slotted home with unflappable precision.

Simon Weatherstone and Matthews went close with long range efforts early on in the second half and Eastbourne's Mark Whitern found the target on 51 minutes but it was ruled out for offside.  With our defence showing its usual impenetrability and Eastbourne's showing a similar good organisation chances dried up for both sides.  We did come close again, though, with 10 minutes to go when Kirk Jackson stretched to reach a Simon Wormull ball into the area and struck the ball narrowly wide with keeper Lee Hook, who seemed to not expect him to make contact, watching.
